Barcelona’s Hector Fort Faces Competitive Transfer Market Ahead of Summer

Barcelona’s first team showcases an abundance of talent across all positions, which poses challenges for La Masia prospects to find a spot. Only those with exceptional skills can hope to impact Hansi Flick’s squad.

One player struggling to gain a place in Flick’s lineup is Hector Fort. The 20-year-old defender competes fiercely for the right-back spot against Xavi Espart.

It appears likely that Fort will depart from Barcelona this summer, as he has garnered substantial interest from clubs across Europe.

According to Matteo Moretto, Borussia Dortmund has initiated contact about Fort, while clubs in England, Italy, and Spain are also tracking his situation. At least ten teams are said to be interested in the young talent.

Barcelona Sets Initial Price for Fort

The starting asking price for Fort is reportedly said to be around €20 million.

However, the club is open to adjusting the terms if interested clubs cannot meet that fee. Barcelona might reduce the upfront transfer cost to roughly €10 million in exchange for retaining 50 percent of the rights to any future sale.

This alternative approach could benefit the Blaugrana, considering Fort’s potential and age.

    Dortmund Express Interest in Fort

Dortmund is among the clubs that have shown interest in Fort. Their reputation for giving young players ample first-team opportunities makes their interest significant, particularly as Fort weighs his options for his next move.

After spending the previous season on loan at Elche, the defender returned to Barcelona, aiming to impress Hansi Flick during the pre-season.

However, the competitive environment for positions increases the likelihood of Fort’s departure.

Barcelona Aims to Maintain Control Over Fort’s Future

As with previous sales from La Masia, Barcelona seeks to retain control over Fort’s future. The young talent has immense potential and could evolve into a top player in his position.

Should Fort thrive, the club aims to secure a means to reacquire him if desired. Even if they do not pursue a return, retaining 50 percent of his future rights could yield financial benefits if his market value increases.

Currently, Fort trains away from the first team as he navigates his future, leaving his potential transfer to Dortmund in question over the coming weeks.

Barcelona have a first team brimming with quality in all positions, making the pathway for La Masia starlets extremely difficult.

Unless a player is extremely talented and can make a real difference in the first team, it is very difficult to break into Flick’s team at the moment.

One such player who is struggling to get into Flick’s team is Hector Fort. The talented 20-year-old is facing immense competition in the right-back position from Xavi Espart.

It looks like he will definitely leave Barça this summer, with Fort attracting serious interest across Europe.

According to Matteo Moretto, Borussia Dortmund have made contact over Fort, while clubs from England, Italy and Spain are also monitoring his situation.

    Barça set asking price

Barcelona’s starting valuation for Fort is said to be around €20 million.

However, the club are prepared to consider a very different structure if interested teams are unwilling to reach that figure.

Barcelona could lower the immediate transfer fee to approximately €10 million in exchange for retaining 50 percent of the rights to a future sale.

The second formula might work better for the Blaugrana given Fort’s age and potential.

    Dortmund make contact for Fort

Dortmund are now among the clubs to have approached the situation.

The Bundesliga side’s interest is notable given their reputation for providing young players with significant first-team opportunities, something Fort will need when choosing his next destination.

However, competition for places means another departure is increasingly possible.

Barça want to control Fort’s future

In line with the La Masia sales the club have carried out in recent seasons, Barcelona want to control Fort’s future.

The Spaniard is immensely talented and, without a doubt, he can definitely develop into a top player in his position.

In the event of that happening, the Catalans will want to have a formula through which they can bring him back should they want him.

Even if the club do not, they are bound to profit from keeping hold of 50 percent of his rights, provided his market value grows.

Fort is currently training away from the first-team squad as he looks to sort his future, and it remains to be seen whether he secures a move to Dortmund in the coming weeks.
