Como Signs Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea for €30m

Como has officially acquired Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea for a reported fee of €30m plus add-ons. The player expressed excitement, stating, “It’s an ambitious, rising project, and working with manager Cesc Fabregas again is truly special.”

The transfer negotiations extended over several weeks, during which Como temporarily backed out of a non-aggression agreement with Inter. Eventually, Inter decided that the asking price was too high and withdrew, leaving Como to finalize the deal.

Chalobah arrived in Italy on Wednesday for his medical tests, but the transfer was only confirmed today. The 27-year-old has signed a contract with Como that extends until June 2031, marking his departure from Chelsea where he developed through their youth academy.

Fabregas, who is familiar with Chalobah from their time together at Chelsea, noted the player’s development and recent inclusion in the England squad for the 2026 World Cup. “Trevoh is an important signing for us and a player who represents the level of ambition we have at this club,” he stated. “He has competed and won at the highest level, but he is also hungry to begin a new chapter and continue improving. He gives us strength, speed, and personality in defense, as well as the technical quality to build from the back. He is a leader who can raise the level of the team, and I am very happy that he has chosen Como.”

However, when the Nerazzurri decided the asking price of €30m plus add-ons was too steep, they walked away from the table and left it to Como.

Fabregas already knew Chalobah from his time at Chelsea, and was impressed by his growth over the years, culminating in a spot with the England squad for the 2026 World Cup.
