Amazonas FC Mocks Departing Defender With Video of Errors
It is a particularly harsh way to announce a player’s departure.
After terminating the contract of Brazilian center-back Léo Coelho, Amazonas FC took the unusual step of posting an Instagram video that compiled his biggest blunders, positioning errors, and own goals.
The Brazilian third-division club, currently competing in the Brasileiro Série C, made the move as a deliberate act of spite. The decision came in response to a labor claim filed by Coelho, who is demanding approximately 8 million reais—roughly 1.3 million euros—for unpaid wages and other alleged contractual breaches.
The 33-year-old defender joined the Amazon-based club last August, bringing with him the status of an experienced player following stints with Uruguayan giants Nacional and Peñarol. However, his tenure with the team quickly deteriorated.
While some observers praised the club’s originality, others viewed the public display as a blatant lack of respect toward the athlete.
In your opinion, did this Brazilian club go too far?
