Inter Milan’s Move for Anan Khalaili Stalls After Medical Assessment
Inter Milan’s pursuit of Anan Khalaili remains on hold after CONI medical staff requested additional tests during the second phase of his physical examination. This development has left the €25 million transfer agreement with Union Saint-Gilloise in limbo as both clubs await a final verdict, expected on Monday.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Khalaili arrived in Milan on Friday anticipating a swift completion of his transfer. However, the Istituto di Medicina e Scienza dello Sport in Via Piranesi suspended his medical clearance while they process further results. Inter officials remain in a waiting pattern, as the assessment rests entirely with the independent CONI medical panel.
The deal appeared finalized just before the medical evaluation. Sporting director Piero Ausilio secured a €25 million agreement, including bonuses, with Union Saint-Gilloise, overcoming previous hurdles after an earlier bid had been rejected. While Khalaili’s representatives express ongoing optimism, the club continues to monitor the situation with caution.
Inter’s Contingency Planning at Right Back
The urgency for Monday’s result has increased, as pre-season training begins today without a confirmed starter for the right-sided position in Cristian Chivu’s squad. If the move for Khalaili fails to materialize, Ausilio has lined up Guéla Doué as the primary alternative, despite his playing profile differing from the Israeli winger. Additionally, the club is considering Algerian player Rafik Belghali, whom Inter previously scouted at Verona, as regulatory issues that hindered a potential January move have since been resolved.
