Lamine Yamal’s Stellar Rise Further Elevates Spain’s Football Status
Spain has long held a reputation as a powerhouse in world football, and the emergence of 19-year-old Lamine Yamal has only strengthened that position. The FC Barcelona forward demonstrates the ability to influence match outcomes, marking him as a significant player in the sport at such a young age.
Many in the football community, including fellow players, regard Yamal as among the best globally. Denis Zakaria, a seasoned player with AS Monaco, shared his thoughts on the program Zack en Roue Libre as part of remarks leading to the Ballon d’Or ceremony. He emphasized the challenges teams face when playing against Spain, particularly with talents like Yamal in the lineup.
“Playing against Spain is always a nightmare. They deny you the ball and force you to spend your time running. And when you add stars like Lamine Yamal to that team, it makes things even more difficult. He’s the best player in the world,” Zakaria stated.
While acknowledging Kylian Mbappé as another “star” and “exceptional” player, Zakaria refrained from including him in a group described as “players who give you so much pleasure.” Instead, he highlighted Yamal along with Michael Olise as players who leave a lasting impression.
“If I had to name two who, when I look at them, make me think, ‘Ah yeah, that’s ridiculous’, it’s Michael Olise and Yamal,” he noted. Zakaria also praised Ousmane Dembélé, calling last year’s season “incredible” and asserting that he rightly deserves the Ballon d’Or recognition.
