Derry City Advances in FAI Cup with 3-0 Win Over Tolka Rovers
Derry City secured their place in the third round of the FAI Cup following a convincing 3-0 victory against Tolka Rovers at the Brandywell.
Seeking to recover from their European exit after a disappointing loss to CSKA Sofia, Derry City showed determination and skill throughout the match.
The home side quickly took control, dominating possession right from the start, although they were initially thwarted by the woodwork.
They managed to break the deadlock on 29 minutes when Adam O’Reilly’s shot hit the post before rolling into the bottom corner of the net.
With chances scarce, Derry doubled their lead just five minutes before full-time as Ellis Chapman scored his second goal since joining the team from Shelbourne.
Chapman maintained his impressive form by finding the net again just before the final whistle, ensuring Derry’s advancement to the next round of the tournament.
The draw for the next round is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, 21 July.
