Diogo Dalot Believes Man United’s Comeback Against Roma Can ‘Change Season’

Headline: Diogo Dalot Sees Champions League Victory as Turning Point for Manchester United

Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot is optimistic that their recent Champions League victory against AS Roma will mark a pivotal shift in their season. United, facing a challenging start to their campaign, came from behind to defeat Roma 3-2 at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

The team initially struggled, falling behind by two goals. However, they mounted an impressive comeback, initiated by Bruno Fernandes’s retaken penalty. Matheus Cunha sealed the win with two late goals, while Roma’s hopes were dashed by a red card in the closing moments.

This win not only halted a concerning nine-match winless streak but also relieved some pressure building on manager Michael Carrick. Currently, United sits at 17th in the Premier League table, the poorest start recorded since 1986, leaving them teetering just above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Reflecting on the game, Dalot stated, “I think a really good second half. I think we came with the right attitude. We did pretty much everything that we needed to do to turn the game on and it’s moments like this, it’s nights like this that can change momentum, and hopefully we can change ours.”

The pressure is palpable within the club as they struggle to meet expectations. Dalot acknowledged the strain on everyone involved, remarking, “When you don’t win games for this football club, every moment, every person, everyone involved gets under pressure… and I think this win is going to give us confidence for the next games.”

This weekend, Manchester United will face Aston Villa at Old Trafford, where they will aim to build on their European success by achieving only their second league win of the season. A victory would indeed provide a much-needed morale boost ahead of the international break, while another setback could cast shadows over Carrick’s future.

Dalot shared, “These moments are really tough, I’m not going to lie,” and emphasized that the team must focus on winning to regain lost confidence. He added, “I think that the biggest thing that we need to get out of this game today is when we play like this, when you have the right attitude, when the fans really believe that we are there, we can be a very strong team.”
