Headline: LexisNexis Dragons Revamp Squad Ahead of 2027 Netball Super League Season
LexisNexis Dragons have made significant changes to their roster, swapping nearly a third of their team in an effort to enhance their performance in the upcoming Netball Super League (NSL) season. The team finished fifth in the previous season, marking their highest position since 2014.
Head coach Reigna Bloxham has welcomed New Zealand players Saviour Tui (goal shooter) and Holly Mather (centre, wing defence), alongside former England Under-21 captain Phoebe Maslen (centre, wing defence).

These new signings come in place of retiring Wales international Phillipa Yarranton, South African mid-courter Khanyisa Chawane who left after three seasons, and Ellen Withington, who had been signed as a permanent replacement prior to 2027.
After finishing at the bottom of the league in 2025, the Dragons narrowly missed the playoffs in the recent campaign, finishing just three points shy of qualifying. Bloxham expressed optimism about the team’s direction, stating, “I am really looking forward to what this 2027 squad can do this season.” She highlighted the efforts made over the past two seasons to develop a strong performance culture within the team.

Saviour Tui, hailing from ANZ Premiership team Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, brings international experience as the 24-year-old has represented both New Zealand and Samoa. Tui previously played for Bloxham at Southern Steel and stated, “Everything I have heard about this club [Dragons] and this environment made it an easy decision. I am here to compete, to contribute and to help take this team as far as it can go.”

Holly Mather joined the Mainland Tactix in 2025, winning the ANZ Premiership during her debut season and helping the team reach the Elimination Final this year. The 25-year-old mid-courter said, “They [Dragons] embrace the same passion for netball as me. I can’t wait to work hard, play hard with this squad.”
Phoebe Maslen comes from NIC Leeds Rhinos, having previously played in the NSL for Birmingham Panthers and Team Bath. She remarked, “I am so excited to be a Dragon for the 2027 season. I can’t wait to get started and see what we can achieve together. This is a really exciting squad and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Seven players from the previous season’s squad remain, following a promising campaign in which the team won six of their 14 games, including three narrow defeats by just one goal. The team will once again be captained by Welsh Feathers leader Bethan Dyke (wing attack, centre), who returns for her third season with the Dragons.
Joining Dyke are four more Wales internationals: Leah Middleton (goalkeeper, goal defence), Alex Johnson (goal defence), Victoria Booth (wing defence), and goal shooter Georgia Rowe, who was the Dragons’ top goalscorer in the 2026 season. Rowe will share the attacking circle with Scotland international Niamh McCall, who ranked third in the NSL for two-goal Super Shots last season.

Completing the ten-player squad is Jacqui Newton, who will return for her fourth year. The 29-year-old Australian goal defence earned a spot in the NSL All-Star 7 for the 2026 season.
