England Fans Heartbroken as Team Falls to Argentina in World Cup Clash
England fans have been left heartbroken after the Three Lions were knocked out of the World Cup in a nail-biting 2-1 loss to Argentina.
The ecstasy following Anthony Gordon‘s goal just 10 minutes into the second half quickly dissipated. Enzo Fernandez equalized in the 85th minute, and Argentina took the lead when Martinez scored in the 92nd minute.

At Boxpark in Wembley, north London, supporters expressed their displeasure as England struggled to maintain their lead. Fans were seen with their heads in their hands, reflecting on their team’s inability to progress past the semi-final stage.
Twin brothers Luke and Vee Moore, both 33, were present at the venue. Vee remarked, “We fumbled it. I’m feeling disappointed; this was a great chance to win the World Cup against a weak Argentina team.”
“If we got out-classed, I’d be okay with that. But we did not play better than Argentina today. We were too defensive after going one nil up,” he added.

Luke expressed similar sentiments, stating, “I’m disappointed; I thought it was coming home. My friends and I were shouting that subs needed to come on to attack. We should have gone for it, countered, and brought on Rashford, Madueke, or Saka earlier to secure the win.”
Another supporter voiced their frustration, mentioning they were “so upset” following the loss, alleging that the team hadn’t “shown up.”
Harry Fine from London told PA, “Miami in the quarters, the semis here against Argentina – we haven’t shown up.”

He added, “What are we doing? Harry Kane the last two games – I love him; I’m an Arsenal fan, and I want him to do everything for our country. Where were you, Harry?”

“I’m so upset. I’m so upset. I want to say it’s rigged, but it’s not. We bottled it.”
When asked if he believed England had a chance to win, he replied, “Yes. It was ours.”
The Prince of Wales shared his disbelief and pride in Thomas Tuchel’s squad, stating that he was “gutted” but still “proud” of their efforts. He expressed his sentiments on Instagram, saying, “Gutted. England, you gave it everything, and we are all so proud of you. Thank you to everyone on and off the pitch, for an incredible tournament. The fight and belief you have shown has inspired us all. The most complete England team in a tournament. Hold your heads high.”

Fans quickly criticized manager Tuchel’s defensive substitutions, which they believed contributed to England’s loss after taking the lead. One wrote on X, “Tuchel should definitely take the blame for that loss. Poor tactical decision making. Once Gordon scored, he went defensive. You can’t expect England to defend for 30 minutes without conceding.”

Outside the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, 58-year-old Lewis Chester from London shared his disappointment, stating, “I think Tuchel’s tactics were too negative. Had we been more aggressive after scoring, it could have been different.”
He concluded, “Tuchel has done very well, but this was a golden opportunity that just slipped away. It feels like England is the Tottenham of national teams; we always come close but never win, and I’m unsure how many more World Cups I can take.”
