Fabian Bredlow Questions Galatasaray’s Whistling Practices

Stuttgart Coach Questions Whistles After Champions League Loss to Galatasaray

VfB Stuttgart faced a 2-0 defeat against Galatasaray during Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League, leading goalkeeper Fabian Bredlow to voice concerns about the mysterious whistling from the crowd.

“I don’t know if they were all generated by humans,” Bredlow remarked. He noted that the whistling seemed to cut through the supporters’ singing, prompting him to think, “Something’s not right here.”

Galatasaray secured their win thanks to Aleksey Batrakov, who scored twice in just two minutes, handing Stuttgart their first Champions League loss of the season.

Stuttgart’s captain, Deniz Undav, commented on the whistling but refrained from attributing blame. “I couldn’t care less,” he stated. Fabian Wohlgemuth, the sporting director, maintained composure amidst the controversy, saying, “Well, I didn’t have to cover my ears,” when asked about Stuttgart’s motivation during the match.

Wohlgemuth emphasized the team’s resilience, explaining, “I think that being able to play in this atmosphere was more motivating for all of us today, and we all handled it and endured it, and are still healthy.”

Looking ahead, Stuttgart will host Werder Bremen on November 7.
