FIFA Rejects Claims of Foul Play in England vs. Norway Goal

FIFA has officially addressed the controversy surrounding England’s recent match against Norway, denying any claims of “foul play” regarding the final result.

The debate centered on the equalizing goal scored by Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham. Critics argued the goal should have been disallowed because the ball allegedly struck the spidercam cables before Bellingham found the back of the net.

Erling Haaland and his teammates immediately raised the issue with the referee during the match, but officials did not review the play.

In response to the growing speculation, FIFA issued a statement via social media confirming the validity of Bellingham’s goal. The governing body explained that the sensor inside the Connected Ball did not register any “ball heartbeat” spike while the ball was in the air. Consequently, FIFA stated there is no evidence to suggest the ball touched the overhead cable or that its trajectory was altered.

This incident remains a significant talking point, as the moment could have altered the outcome of the game and represents a key issue ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
