Alfredo Pedulla has reported that this happened two weeks ago, when Sancho’s entourage got in touch with Fiorentina to know if they are interested in the free agent.

Despite La Viola have done significant business this summer and the player being available for no transfer fee, they rejected the idea. This is mainly because of his poor recent track record and also because they had other ideas up their sleeve, as they signed Franco Mastantuono instead.

Fiorentina’s stance is no surprise, as they are mounting a rebuild under Fabio Paratici. Even if the Italian did see Sancho from close by during his time in England, he decided to move for a player who is younger and a much cleaner recent reputation.
