To reduce their wage bill, they need to offload several high-earning players, including Mangala, with part of his wage covered by the La Liga team.

Mangala joined Lyon from Nottingham Forest in 2024 on a four-year contract. His time at Lyon was hindered by a significant ACL injury sustained during a loan stint at Everton last year. Now, he embarks on a season-long loan to Getafe while remaining under contract with Lyon until 2028.
