Grêmio Faces Palmeiras in 2026 Copa do Brasil Final

Grêmio and Palmeiras Set to Clash in 2026 Copa do Brasil Final

On December 6 (Sunday), the grand finale of the 2026 Copa do Brasil will take place at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília, featuring a matchup between Grêmio and Palmeiras.

Grêmio, also known as Tricolor Gaúcho, holds the title of the tournament’s second-most successful club, having won five championships (1989, 1994, 1997, 2001, and 2016). This upcoming final marks the club’s tenth appearance in the title match as they aim to equalize Cruzeiro’s record of six trophies.

Palmeiras, referred to as Verdão, secured their place in the final by overcoming Vasco in a penalty shootout. The club has a strong history in the Copa do Brasil, winning the tournament four times (1998, 2012, 2015, and 2020). Notably, Palmeiras clinched their most recent title at the expense of Grêmio, with the same coaches, Abel Ferreira and Renato Portaluppi, at the helm during that encounter.

Reaching the final guarantees each team R$34 million, the amount awarded to the runner-up by the CBF, with the total rising to R$78 million for the eventual champion.

In addition to competing for the title, both Grêmio and Palmeiras will secure spots in the 2027 Conmebol Libertadores. The champions will enter directly into the group stage, while the runners-up will face qualifying rounds.
