Guernsey FC Advances in FA Vase with Narrow Victory Over Newhaven

Guernsey FC secured a spot in the next round of the FA Vase after a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Newhaven. Charlton Gauvain scored the decisive goal for the Green Lions just 10 minutes into the match, expertly rounding the goalkeeper before finishing into the net.

Goalkeeper Josh Addison played a crucial role in maintaining the lead, making several key saves throughout the first half. In the second half, Sam Murray tested the Newhaven goalkeeper early on, but his shot was saved. Gauvain also came close to extending the lead, only to have a chance cleared off the line as Guernsey increased their attacking momentum.

With 10 minutes remaining, Addison was again called into action, successfully saving a free kick to keep his team in front. This victory comes only a week after Guernsey faced a significant setback, having lost 5-0 to Crowborough Athletic in the FA Cup.

Looking ahead, Tony Vance’s team is set to return to league action on Tuesday night with an away match against Crawley Down Gatwick.

Guernsey FC progressed through the FA Vase first qualifying round after a 1-0 win at Newhaven.
