Ipswich Town had been given hope in their pursuit of Stade Rennais forward Breel Embolo, however, the Switzerland international now looks to be heading to the MLS. As per a report from Ouest-France, the striker’s move to Atlanta United has moved one step closer.

It was reported by L’Équipe earlier in the week that Embolo had turned down the chance to join the US club. It was a decision amid interest from newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town. However, Ouest-France understands that Embolo has now travelled to the US where he will complete a move to Atlanta United, currently bottom of the Eastern Conference.

The Breton club, the publication adds, will receive a €17m fee for the former AS Monaco forward, who only joined from the Principality club last summer. Just one year into his four-year deal, he is on the verge of an exit. The move will be one of the five most expensive transfers in MLS history, should it be completed.
