Liverpool Explores Transfer Options After Summer Window Closure
Liverpool added plenty of forward talent in the summer transfer window.
Deals were completed for both Victor Munoz and Bradley Barcola, enhancing the squad’s attacking options.
Munoz, 23, arrived from Osasuna for around £34 million after triggering the Spain FIFA World Cup winner’s release clause. Barcola joined the Reds for approximately £123 million following successful negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite these significant additions, manager Andoni Iraola finds himself in need of a right winger. He is currently relying on Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Munoz, Barcola, Lewis Koumas, and others for the role once held by Mohamed Salah.
In the summer, attempts to secure deals for Yankuba Minteh and Ismaila Sarr fell through, leaving Liverpool still looking for a right-sided option.
LFC Interested in Otorbi but Unwilling to Meet New Asking Price
The club’s recent focus has shifted towards Valencia, where 19-year-old David Otorbi has garnered attention. The promising young winger has made a notable impact for his hometown team this season, showcasing his talent in La Liga.

Otorbi’s contract features a release clause of €30 million (£25 million), a figure that sporting director Julian Ward seemed willing to meet according to to Tribuna Deportivo.
However, Valencia has acted to secure Otorbi’s future by renewing his contract until 2031, effectively doubling his release clause to €60 million (£50 million). This move, along with a salary increase, has reportedly stalled Liverpool’s interest according to Fichajes.
While the Premier League champions were open to pursuing an opportunistic deal at £25 million, it appears they find the revised asking price of £50 million excessive, even given their current lack of options on the right flank.

David Otorbi: Player Profile and Current Situation
David Otorbi is a right-footed winger known for operating primarily on the right side of Valencia’s attack. His gameplay emphasizes pace, direct runs, and the ability to take on defenders with skill, often crossing or cutting back the ball into dangerous areas.
This season, he has broken into Valencia’s first team and netted his first senior goal against Racing Santander. Unfortunately, a thigh injury sustained against Villarreal has hampered his progress, with reports suggesting he could be sidelined for at least six weeks.
To preempt other clubs, Valencia has exercised an early contract extension for Otorbi until June 2031, increasing his release clause from €30 million to €60 million, thus enhancing their leverage in any potential negotiations.

While Liverpool and Newcastle have shown interest in the young talent, his agent has confirmed that Premier League clubs have made enquiries. Though moving to England remains a plausible long-term option, Otorbi’s camp emphasizes the importance of his development at Valencia, making an immediate transfer uncertain.
