Headline: Leicester City Assistant Manager Conor Hourihane Leaves Club After Four Months
Leicester City has announced that assistant manager Conor Hourihane has departed from the League One club after a brief tenure of just over four months. The 35-year-old had joined the Foxes as Russell Martin’s second-in-command in June, following a 14-month period as manager of Barnsley, which concluded at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Hourihane’s appointment aimed to assist in revitalizing the club, which has faced challenges after back-to-back relegations from the Premier League and Championship, placing them in the third tier for only the second time in their 142-year history.
The Foxes have experienced a sluggish start to the current season, securing five wins and suffering four losses in their first 13 league matches, a situation that has intensified the pressure on head coach Martin. Although Martin has managed to withstand external criticism, the resignation of Hourihane marks a significant high-profile exit from the coaching staff.
Despite Hourihane’s departure, Martin will retain the remainder of his coaching team, which includes Andy King, Tom Weal, and Rhys Owen. In addition, loans manager Steve Morison will join the backroom staff to offer coaching support.
