Liverpool Seeks Winger Deals Ahead of Transfer Deadline
Liverpool is actively pursuing winger signings as the transfer window approaches its closure on September 1. The club has faced a shortage of options following Mohamed Salah’s departure to Trabzonspor on a free transfer, prompting Sporting Director Richard Hughes and Head Coach Andoni Iraola to seek solutions before the deadline.
Barcola Tops Liverpool’s Wishlist
Bradley Barcola has emerged as Liverpool’s primary target. The 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain forward has been on the Reds’ radar since it became clear that securing a deal for Yan Diomande was not feasible. Initially, PSG was asking for £145 million for Barcola, but reports suggest that this demand is softening, with the player reportedly favoring a move to Anfield.
Shift in Focus from Mbaye
Liverpool has also been linked to Yankuba Minteh as an alternative to the PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye. Although Mbaye is available and has piqued Liverpool’s interest, sources indicate that there is “little to no chance” of Hughes approving a deal for the Senegal international, who carries a £60 million price tag. Reports from RMC Sport confirm that both Barcola and Mbaye are excluded from PSG’s squad for their upcoming Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, indicating their pending departures.
Absences Highlight PSG’s Intentions
Despite participating in training on Saturday, both players will not feature in the match against Rennes, as PSG aims to safeguard their interests in any forthcoming transfer. While Mbaye has attracted interest from clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Barcola’s priority remains a move to Liverpool, despite Arsenal’s interest. With Barcola sidelined again, PSG appears committed to offloading him, which may pave the way for a potential deal with Liverpool as the transfer window nears its end.
Liverpool are chasing a couple of winger deals before the window closes on September 1.
The Reds have been without sufficient options ever since Mohamed Salah left on a free transfer for Trabzonspor.
Sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Andoni Iraola are now taking steps to redress that balance before the transfer deadline.

Barcola wanted by Liverpool
It’s no secret that Bradley Barcola is the No1 target. Liverpool have coveted the 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain attacker ever since it became apparent that a deal for Yan Diomande wouldn’t be possible.
PSG were initially thought to be holding out for £145 before selling the 23-year-old but there appears to be a softening in that stance.
with the player’s preference being a move to Anfield.
Liverpool not likely to continue Mbaye chase
It’s also been confirmed that the Merseysiders are in the hunt for Yankuba Minteh – as an alternative to the PSG winger Ibrahim Mbaye.

Although Mbaye is available and IS of interest to Liverpool there is little to no chance of Hughes okaying a deal costing £60m for the Senegal international.
RMC Sport is now reporting that the wantaway pair are again OUT of the PSG group for this weekend’s Ligue 1 opener against Rennes.

Barcola and Mbaye left out by PSG
“Although they were present at training on Saturday morning, the two players, who are expected to leave, are not part of the Parisian group to face Rennes on Sunday (8:45pm), RMC Sport has learned,” the report reads.
The reason behind these absences is to ensure nothing bad happens to them which could jeopardise PSG’s chances of cashing in during the current window.
Mbaye has got other suitors – including Bayer Leverkusen – but right now Liverpool looks like the only show in town for Barcola.
Although Arsenal would like to strike a deal the former Lyon academy graduate has only got eyes on Anfield.

With the wide forward frozen out yet again we can take it as a sign that PSG right now have no plans to reintegrate him back into the lineup.
Instead they are pressing on with plans to sell Barcola to Liverpool. Now let’s hope Hughes does his bit and secures his signing before the window slams shut.
