The club recently held a meeting with his agent, Federico Pastorello, where they mutually agreed that continuing their relationship was not in their best interest. Napoli had also requested Lukaku to lower his wages, a proposal that did not sit well with the player.

Napoli CEO Aurelio de Laurentiis supports the decision to move on, and the club is now waiting for suitable offers, with several teams expressing interest in the striker over recent weeks. However, none have made formal advances yet, although Lukaku continues to draw attention from various foreign clubs.

Decision Makes Sense

Last season indicated that Napoli may not require Lukaku, and given his substantial salary and age, parting ways seems sensible. Losing him for free would have been detrimental, and it could also be advantageous for Lukaku to make a move after a successful World Cup performance.
