PSG Secures Super Cup Victory Over Aston Villa with 2-1 Win

PSG continues its impressive run, triumphing over Unai Emery’s Aston Villa with a 2-1 scoreline at Salzburg’s Red Bull Arena.

    Scorers: Kvaratskhelia (20′), Doué (61′); Madjo (45′)

In a powerful start, PSG showcased their dominance early on, with Khvicha Kvaratskhelia delivering a stunning opener in the 20th minute. The star Georgian winger’s goal set the tone for the match, presenting the French giants with an early lead.

Aston Villa responded shortly after, with 17-year-old forward Brian Madjo nearly leveling the score. However, his attempt narrowly missed the target, veering wide of the goal.

Madjo redeemed himself just before halftime, scoring a remarkable left-footed volley at the back post, finding the net and becoming the youngest goalscorer in Super Cup history.

New PSG recruit Maghnes Akliouche started the match but was substituted at halftime for Ousmane Dembélé, as coach Luis Enrique aimed to enhance the offensive strategy.

The change paid off when Dembélé collaborated with his France teammate Désiré Doué, who extended PSG’s lead to 2-1 with a precise finish. Doué’s contribution included an assist on Kvaratskhelia’s earlier goal.

Although Villa fought hard to overcome the deficit, Doué’s strike cemented PSG’s victory. The team has successfully retained its Super Cup title, marking their 13th major trophy since Enrique’s appointment, as they embark on another season with high aspirations in the French capital.

PSG’s hegemonic dominance continues tonight after Luis Enrique’s troops got the better of Unai Emery’s Aston Villa in a hotly contested 2-1 win at Salzburg’s Red Bull Arena.

    Scorers: Kvaratskhelia (20′), Doué (61′); Madjo (45′)

Dominant across the opening 20 minutes of play, a trademark blockbuster opener from star Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia broke the deadlock in Salzburg to set the French giants away on the night.

Villa nearly battled back seven minutes later through highly-touted 17-year-old forward Brian Madjo, but the England youth striker could only see his effort glide wide.

Madjo would make amends just before halftime, with the debutant finding the back of the net with a brilliant left-footed volley at the back post to slot beyond Matvey Safonov, becoming the youngest-ever goalscorer in Super Cup history.

New PSG signing Maghnes Akliouche, who was given the nod in the starting XI, was hooked at the break and replaced by Ousmane Dembélé as Enrique looked to freshen up the attack.

And it would pay dividends when he combined with Les Bleus colleague Désiré Doué, who restored the one-goal lead for Les Parisiens with an ice-cold finish, adding to his first-half assist on Kvaratskhelia’s opener.

Despite Emery’s Villa fighting to the last, Doué’s strike would go down as the match-winner as PSG successfully retained their Super Cup crown (the 13th major honour since Enrique’s arrival) ahead of another season filled with high expectations in the French capital.
