Lyon Seeks New Manager as Paulo Fonseca Prepares for Departure
Olympique Lyonnais is actively looking for a new manager to replace Paulo Fonseca. Although the Portuguese coach is still in charge for the moment, he is on the brink of joining Sporting CP. Fonseca has requested that Lyon facilitate his move, which would also allow the Ligue 1 club to shed a significant salary.
Since taking over from Pierre Sage, Fonseca has achieved the objectives set for him, and the club has not obstructed his potential departure. The process to find his successor is now in motion. There are calls from a portion of the fanbase for the return of Sage; however, L’Équipe reports that Lyon has not made contact with him. Meanwhile, Sage faces pressure at Crystal Palace.

Discussions are progressing with Spanish manager Carlos Vicens, according toA Bola. Additionally, former Juventus manager Thiago Motta has also been proposed as a candidate for Les Gones. As of now, it remains uncertain who will lead Lyon in their upcoming match against Real Sociedad on Thursday, but it is highly improbable that it will be Fonseca, whose transition to Sporting CP is anticipated early next week.
