Roma Target Midfield Reinforcements as Summer Training Begins
Roma officially started their new season as the squad gathered at Trigoria for the summer training camp. Despite the start of preparations, manager Gian Piero Gasperini is still waiting for new arrivals in the transfer market.
The Giallorossi coach has reportedly asked the club to speed up incoming transfers to finalize the roster. This push comes as the team prepares to compete in the Champions League following a long period of absence from the tournament.
The club’s primary focus remains signing attacking wingers, a position identified as a key area for improvement. Meanwhile, management is also working on midfield adjustments, as this sector of the pitch could see significant changes in the coming weeks.
Sporting director Tony D’Amico is currently leading the search for talent, with several international players under consideration. Roma is evaluating Botafogo’s Danilo Santos and Monaco’s Lamine Camara, as well as Belgian midfielder Arne Engels. Engels, in particular, has been on the club’s radar for weeks and is attracting growing interest across the European market.
The Belgian prospect is also a target for Nottingham Forest. The Premier League side has reportedly identified Engels as a potential replacement for Elliot Anderson, who recently completed a €135 million move to Manchester City.
According to Belgian news outlet Voetbalkrant, Roma is now preparing an initial official offer for the midfielder. The club hopes to submit this bid to the player’s representatives soon to gain an edge over the competition.
