Roma Advances on Rodrigo Mora with Strategic Offer to Porto

Roma is making significant strides to secure Rodrigo Mora, with a creatively structured proposal garnering support in Portugal.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the clubs are nearing an agreement on the second of three offers Roma has presented for the promising attacking midfielder.

Under the proposed terms, Roma would initially pay Porto €25 million while allowing the Portuguese club a 50% share of any future resale profits. After that, Roma would commit an additional €25 million in 2027 to repurchase that sell-on clause.

This staggered payment plan, totaling €50 million, aims to lessen the immediate financial impact, and Roma is optimistic about finalizing the deal shortly.

Mora Addresses Roma’s Quest for an Attacker

The acquisition would fulfill a crucial requirement that coach Gian Piero Gasperini has emphasized throughout the summer. The coach has consistently sought a right-footed attacker but has faced challenges in securing several targets, including Antonio Nusa, Crysencio Summerville, and Mason Greenwood.

Mora, a 19-year-old Portugal youth international and one of Porto’s standout academy products, presents an ambitious and fitting solution.

Currently under contract until 2030, with a €70 million release clause, Mora is being sought for significantly less, as Porto appears willing to negotiate.

However, Roma must act quickly, as Galatasaray is also in pursuit, and the Italian club is looking to take advantage of the Turkish side’s indecision.

At this point, the momentum favors Roma, who believe they have identified the right player and the right offer to meet the expectations of both Gasperini and Porto.

Roma are closing in on Rodrigo Mora, with a creatively structured proposal for the Porto teenager finding favour in Portugal.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the two clubs are converging on the second of three offers Roma have tabled for the highly-rated attacking midfielder.

Under the proposal, Roma would pay €25m now while leaving Porto a 50% share of any future resale, then hand over a further €25m in 2027 to buy back that sell-on clause.

The staggered structure, worth €50m in total, is designed to ease the immediate outlay, and the Giallorossi are working with optimism to close a deal in the coming hours.

Mora the answer to Roma and Gasperini’s search for an attacker

The move would finally address a need Gian Piero Gasperini has voiced repeatedly this summer. The coach has pushed hard for a new right-footed attacker, only for the club to miss out on a string of targets, including Antonio Nusa, Crysencio Summerville and Mason Greenwood.

Mora, a 19-year-old Portugal youth international and one of Porto’s brightest academy products, represents an ambitious solution.

Under contract until 2030 with a €70m release clause, Mora is being pursued for well below that figure, with Porto open to negotiating.

The Serie A side will need to move decisively, however: Galatasaray have also been in the race, and the Giallorossi are looking to exploit the Turkish club’s hesitation to get the deal over the line.

For now, the momentum is with Roma, who believe they have found the profile and the formula, to satisfy both Gasperini and Porto.
