Crysencio Summerville Signs with Al-Hilal After Initial Agreement with AS Roma
Dutchman Crysencio Summerville had actually already agreed on a transfer to AS Roma. Now, however, Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal has successfully stepped in and signed the West Ham United winger.
This is according to independent reports from The Athletic and Fabrizio Romano. Summerville is said to have signed a four-year contract. According to The Athletic, the base fee is just under €64.5 million, with bonuses potentially taking the total up to €70 million.
Even in a mixed season for West Ham, Summerville stood out: in 34 appearances, the winger recorded ten goal contributions — scoring seven himself and setting up three more. He also made a big impression in the Oranje shirt at the World Cup, when he came off the bench against Sweden and starred with two assists and the goal that made it 5-1.

At just 24, the Dutchman seemingly has everything needed to make a push in the Champions League. Instead, he is now choosing a completely different path. Summerville is already the Saudis’ second high-profile deal in a very short space of time: earlier, Al-Ahli had already paid €50 million to Sporting Lisbon for former Barça forward Francisco Trincão. Both players, in the prime of their careers, turned down major European clubs to move to the Saudi League, which remains of little sporting significance.
