Sunderland to Retain Manager Le Bris Amid Struggles

Sunderland Stands Firmly Behind Manager Regis Le Bris Despite Challenging Start

Sunderland remains committed to manager Regis Le Bris following a difficult beginning to their Premier League campaign. The Black Cats have only secured one victory in their first nine league matches, most recently suffering a 3-1 defeat to newly promoted Coventry on Saturday.

Despite the rocky performance, the north-east club is confident that Le Bris can steer them back on course. The board emphasizes the importance of stability and collective responsibility as they aim to enhance the team’s prospects, especially with Chelsea scheduled to visit the north-east on the Sunday before the international break.

Le Bris, who took charge of Sunderland from Lorient in 2024, previously led the club to promotion back to the Premier League in his first season, marking an end to an eight-year absence from the top flight. The 50-year-old also achieved a remarkable seventh-place finish the following year, which resulted in Sunderland qualifying for the Europa League for the first time in 53 years.

In the Europa League, Sunderland has won two matches and drawn one so far in the group phase, with a home match against Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb on the horizon.
