Headline: Real Madrid Manager Jose Mourinho Considers Squad Rotation Ahead of Champions League Match Against AEK Athens
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho is contemplating making changes to his squad for the upcoming Champions League match against AEK Athens. Several first-team players may be given a chance to play in Greece.
As reported by Defensa Central, players such as Denzel Dumfries, Alvaro Carreras, Eduardo Camavinga, Antonio Rudiger, Endrick, and Brahim Diaz are vying for starting positions as Mourinho aims to manage his squad during a series of challenging away matches.
The report indicates that Mourinho is looking to implement three or four changes, confirming that Aurelien Tchouameni will be given a rest.
With Real Madrid set to face Valencia shortly after their European commitment, the manager intends to rotate playing time while maintaining the team’s competitive edge.
Camavinga Set to Replace Tchouameni in Real Madrid Midfield
The most notable anticipated change is in the midfield, where Camavinga is likely to take Tchouameni’s place. The French midfielder impressed during Real Madrid’s recent victory at Camp Nou and is poised to showcase his talents from the start.
Mourinho has yet to confirm any additional midfield changes, leaving open the possibility for further adjustments based on the players’ workloads.
Dumfries, Carreras, and Rudiger Competing for Defensive Places
Mourinho might also tweak his defensive lineup, with three candidates in line for inclusion. Dumfries is a contender for the right-back position, while Carreras could serve as an option on the left side.
Both Dumfries and Carreras did not feature in the starting XI against Racing last weekend; their inclusion would allow other players a needed respite.
Additionally, Rudiger remains a contender. The German defender played against Roma and continues to be an important option for the team.
If Rudiger is selected, Mourinho will have to decide between Dean Huijsen and Ibrahima Konate for exclusion.
Endrick and Brahim Offer Mourinho Attacking Alternatives
Changes are also possible in the attacking front, with Endrick and Brahim Diaz both seeking starting opportunities. Endrick, who contributed significantly in the match against Roma, is eager for more involvement, with the Champions League clash offering him a platform to make his mark.
Brahim provides Mourinho with additional flexibility in attack, and a starting position would give him an important chance to impress under the manager’s guidance.
