Harry Kane Wins 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or by Narrow Margin
Bayern Munich and England international forward Harry Kane has clinched the 2025-2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or in a closely contested race, marking one of the smallest margins in the history of this prestigious award. According to reports from France Football, the gap between Kane and second-placed Kylian Mbappé was significantly smaller than the 41-point difference between Rodri and Vinicius Jr in the previous year.
The Men’s Ballon d’Or voting process involves 100 journalists, each representing one of the top 100 nations in the FIFA rankings. The journalists compile their lists of the ten best players from the past season. Points are allocated based on the ranking, with the first-place player receiving 15 points and the tenth place only 1 point. Ultimately, Kane garnered a total of 1055 points, edging out Mbappé who scored 1027 points.
Kane’s victory displayed remarkable support, with 40 of the 100 journalists naming him as their top choice. In contrast, only 23 journalists selected Mbappé as their number one player.
