Liverpool Reject Inter Milan Transfer Bids for Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones remains a key topic in the transfer market, though the situation stays straightforward. Inter Milan wants the midfielder, but Liverpool has no intention of selling him, and head coach Andoni Iraola has made his stance clear.
Inter Milan has attempted to sign the 25-year-old from Anfield twice. The first move was a loan proposal during the final stages of the January transfer window that failed to progress. They returned this summer with a verbal offer of €25 million (£21.7m), which Liverpool promptly rejected. This pattern highlights that while the Italian club admires the player, they have yet to meet Liverpool’s valuation.
Inter Milan Interest Remains Strong
Expectations persist that Inter Milan will return with a third attempt to secure the midfielder. They are not alone, as Juventus, AC Milan, and Galatasaray have also monitored the situation. Recent reports in Italy linking Jones with Nottingham Forest were quickly addressed by the player, who responded on social media with a raised-eyebrow emoji.
While that response was not a formal statement, it signaled his current mindset. There is currently no indication that Jones is seeking an exit from the club.
Andoni Iraola Wants Jones to Stay
Iraola has moved quickly to define his position on the player. Ahead of scheduled talks, the Liverpool head coach stated: “I will have the chance to speak with him today. I rate Curtis very highly.” He continued, “For me he is a great, great player and I hope he can continue with us and continue performing the way he has been performing.”
“It’s very important that he’s Scouse, that he’s from here. I also like the personality.”
“From the outside at least he looks like a player with good character and I hope we can keep him, not only for this year but for more time.”
Liverpool Contract Situation Needs Sorting
Jones remains under contract until the summer of 2027, ensuring Liverpool maintains control over his future. Nevertheless, delayed renewal talks are never ideal, as prolonged uncertainty often generates unnecessary speculation.
Furthermore, Jones holds significant importance as the only local Scouser in Liverpool’s first-team squad. With eight years of senior experience and status as a homegrown player, his value in the dressing room has increased following the departure of several senior figures over the last season.
This status does not make him untouchable. Should a massive offer arrive or should Jones decide he prefers a new challenge, the situation could evolve. For now, however, Liverpool’s message remains clear: Curtis Jones is a valued part of the team at Anfield.
